Brian J. Smith, DMD - Chairman
Brian J. Smith served as chair of the organizing board and is the current chair of our board of directors. A native of Estill, South Carolina, Dr. Smith earned a bachelor of science from Clemson University. He then went on to earn his post-graduate degree from the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Dental Medicine. Upon completion of a General Practice residency program at Palmetto Richland Health Alliance in Columbia, South Carolina, Dr. Smith opened his private practice. He has been president and owner of Palmetto Dental Arts, PA since 1999.
Edgar L. Woods - Vice Chairman
Edgar L. Woods has been president and owner of Palmetto Grain Brokerage LLC, which specializes in cash grain brokerage, futures/options trading and farm management, since 1985. He is also president of Performance Ag, LLC, a licensed South Carolina grain dealer/merchant, and is also a partner in the Agricultural Products Exchange, a feed ingredients trading company with offices in New York, Iowa, and South Carolina. He holds a Futures, Series 3 license from the National Futures Association. Mr. Woods earned his bachelor degree in agricultural mechanization and business from Clemson University. He is a native of Jasper County and has lived in Bluffton since 1990. Mr. Woods serves as past chairman of the Palmetto Agribusiness Council and is past president of both the South Carolina Grain Dealers association and Southeastern Feed and Grain, a group of feed and grain dealers from four southeastern states.
Gary C. Davis
Gary C. Davis is an owner/partner of Hilton Head Insurance and Brokerage. He is a native of Jasper County and graduated from Presbyterian College with a degree in business administration. Mr. Davis started his career in the pharmaceutical industry where he spent ten years with health care manufacturer Johnson & Johnson as a regional sales trainer and eventually a regional sales manager. Due to a very high travel demand, Mr. Davis left the health care industry to spend more time with his family and became a real estate broker for 12 years where he served as Broker-in-Charge and director of sales for various real estate developments in southern Beaufort County.
Frederick Anthony "Tony" Nimmer, III
Frederick Anthony Nimmer, III is president of both Nimmer Turf + Tree Farm and Nimmer Equipment Rental Company, a position he has held since 1987. He also serves as vice president of Turfmasters, Inc., which specializes in the installation of sod. Mr. Nimmer also serves as vice president of Carolina Seed Farm, LLC that specializes in certified centipede seed production. All of these businesses are based in Ridgeland in Jasper County, South Carolina. Mr. Nimmer earned a bachelor degree in finance from Clemson University. Mr. Nimmer formerly served on South Carolina Bank & Trust’s Jasper County Advisory Board from January 1999 to October 2004. Mr. Nimmer is a native of Jasper County and has lived in Bluffton since 2001. He is also past president of the Jasper County Rotary Club.
Robyn Josselson Shirley
Robyn Josselson Shirley has been practice manager for the Southeastern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center, Inc., Bluffton, South Carolina since 1999. She earned a bachelor degree in sociology from Furman University. She also holds bachelor and masters degrees in occupational therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina. A native of Yemassee, South Carolina, she has lived in Bluffton since 2001 and formerly served on the board of directors of Heroes on Horseback.
Robert L. McKinney, President/Chief Executive Officer
Robert L. McKinney has been our President and Chief Executive Officer since May 2013. in March 2014, our board of directors voted to increase the size of the board to include six directors. Mr. McKinney was elected by the board to fill the vacancy created by the increase to the size of the board of directors. Mr. McKinney began his career in banking upon leaving the U.S. Army in 1968. Prior to joining the Bank in 2013, he served in a number of executive management positions in community banks including President, Chief Executive Officer and Director over his 45 year banking career. Mr. McKinney served in national leadership roles within a multi-national bank holding company where he was a member of the National Retail/Small Business Risk Management Group. He completed studies in the ABA’s Commercial Lending School and is a graduate of the Executive Program/Leading Strategic Change of the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Mr. McKinney has been a speaker at national banking conferences and taught banking courses at Marshall University Community College. Mr. McKinney has lived in Hilton Head since 2000 and has led successful banking teams in the low country.
